LED Driver for LED ceiling panel lights

The LED ceiling panel light is very thin , so the LED driver(power supply) is not integrated
inside the light,but individual connect with the panel light. There is advantage on that configuration,
which is more easy to change,for the lifespan of driver is shorter than the LED chips, when the LED
driver is fail after a few years, you can change the driver only, not the whole light.

And the driver is very important part of the LED ceiling panel light, some cheap driver can't
last for even a year, and you can't find out the difference by eyes, for it looks the same as the
good quality one, but the inside PCB and circuit design is totally different.

How to choose LED flat panel light for your application ?

First of all, where to be used HotelsHospitalsSchool / colleges / universitiesConference / meeting rooms ,  Residential / institution buildings , Factories / offices,Commercial complexes 
Different application location require different shape, different dimensions, different  installation method and different color temperature.

Second, what kind of installation method to be choose?  Suspended or surface mounted or Embedded?
If the LED panel light will be placed in the ceiling to replace some ceiling tiles, then please choose the suitable 
dimensions. There are different standard in different countries for the ceiling tiles' dimensions.
For surface mounted installation, then please make sure there is enough space and the wall or ceiling is hard enough for 
mounting the frame.
If suspended installation, then make sure the ceiling is enough hard to bear the weight of the LED panel light.

Third, what is the brightness is needed , which depends on the applications.

Fourth, what is the Color temperature is needed . Usually there are three kinds color temperature, warm white (about 3000K), natural white (about4500K) and cold white (about 6000K). And other color such as RED, GREEN, BLUE, AMBER is available for special requirement as well .

Housing Material and Finishing for LED panel light.

Normally, aluminum will be used for housing of LED panel light. 

For the small panel light with power less than 24 Watts, Die casting aluminum with powder coating, will 
be used for making the housing , which is the heatsink of panel light as well.

For the panel light with higher power, from 30 to 72W, housing will be made by aluminum extrusion, with
anodizing, which is not a heatsink.

Direct-lit vs. Edge-lit LED Panel Lights.

Direct-lit ceiling LED panel lights work by placing the LED light source at the back of the panel. Such lights are called direct-lit or back-lit panels. The Panel light will project light to direction of up font directly, it is more efficient,so less LEDs are required in this type of panels when compared to other lighting technologies like edge lit panels and CFL lights.

On the other hand, this type of light panel cannot be built as thin as one may desire because a certain distance between the SMD LEDs and the panel is required to enable an overall uniform and bright illumination of the entire lamp. In order to achieve an even light amount distribution, the panel light needs to have a thickness of about 30 mm in a direction perpendicular to the light panel.
Edge lit LED panel lights are made to use aluminum housings . Their optical systems retained use high efficiency PMMA lighting extraction light guide plates and diffusers. They also utilize PMMA light-guide plate technology as well as nano-grade diffuser technology which make them extremely energy efficient and effective in lighting. This optical system helps in ensuring there is smooth lighting distribution.
Edge-lit LED panel lights place the LED light sources at the side of the panel with light beaming into a light transmitting/guiding medium that re-directs the light to the viewing surface. The distance between each individual SMD can be adjusted to give various light intensities and uniformity, thus provides precise light control, uniform shadowless light and high optical efficiency in general lighting applications. Their slim profile makes them the ideal elegant LED lighting fixtures for offices, hospitals and schools among other commercial and industrial LED panel applications.
It is important to note that Direct Lit ceiling LED panels are available in different sizes and color temperatures i.e. 1′ by 4′, 2′ by 2′ and 2′ by 4′ inch sizes. The panels are available mostly in warm white (3500k) and daylight (5000k) and cool white(6000K) color temperatures. Also,the direct-lit panels consume less power as compared to their edge-lit counterparts.
But Edge-lit LED panel lights designed for drop-in ceilings are very popular now, they offer better light performance than the direct-lit type. In terms of appearance, edge-lit LED panel lights are thinner as compared to the direct-lit lights because the SMDs used in them are placed at the edges and not at the back. However, edge-lit LED has a uniformity problem that patches of dark regions can result because the center portions of the panel are too far from the edges and light intensity decreases significantly as the light travels over extended distances. Moreover, edge-lit LED panel lights cost more.
